Job Description - Bookkeeper
We are searching for a motivated and intellectually curious individual to join our team as a fully remote Bookkeeper. In this role, you will be supporting a number of our portfolio companies in their corporate bookkeeping functions, including transaction processing, reconciliations, month end reporting, and other full cycle accounting duties as required. This position has the opportunity to work on a number of different companies and initiatives, and serves as the core of our portfolio companies’ accounting functions.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Process transactions and reconcile accounts with efficiency and accuracy
- Follow daily, weekly, and monthly processes to ensure quality and consistency in bookkeeping
- Assist with month and year end working paper preparation as needed
- Participate in other accounting duties as needed, including compliance returns (GST/HST, PST, WCB, EHT) and payroll processing
- Assist with other ad-hoc analysis, reporting, and support as needed
Required Skills and Experience
- 1-3 years experience in bookkeeping and full-cycle accounting
- Experience using cloud-based accounting apps, specifically Xero and QBO, is required
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (tables, pivot tables)
- Experience with other cloud-based apps is an asset
- Outstanding attention to detail, highly organized and rigorous
- Previous experience with or knowledge of Canadian compliance (GST/HST, PST, WCB, EHT) and payroll is an asset but not required
- Previous experience with or knowledge of the start-up, early stage and growth technology ecosystems is considered a significant asset but not required
